Site

Kisingitini is located on the Pate Island, roughly Northwest of the Lamu Island. Access from Lamu is via speed-boats (about 1 ½ hrs.) and dhows (about 4 hrs.)
There is no electrical power available in the Island. Cellular phone reception is very weak and only in selected zones.

Desalination Plant

The Desalination Plant consists of :-
Source of Electric Energy – Wind Turbine and Solar Panels,
Storage of back up energy-  1500 AH Battery Bank and Inverter,

Other Equipment
Associated electronic control devices,
Hard Water Source - Shallow Well (21m),
Hard Water Production - 2 x Submersible 24VDc Pumps,
.Soft water Production    - Desalination Unit (@ 420litres / H)
Soft water Storage - Tanks  in Shelter.
The shelter has lighting points , socket outlet,
Circuit breakers (5 A and 13A) for isolation
between the lights and the sockets plus earthing.
Low power LED lamps are used for lighting so
as to minimize energy consumption.
